Each month we highlight a local or international ministry. Loose cash offerings and designated offerings are given to that ministry. An overview of these diverse ministries is provided below. Our 2020 Love Offering ministries are as follows:
JANUARY – Strong Cross Ministries (Africa)
Strong Cross Ministries is a ministry that helps missionaries. Founders Chris and Tonya Blessing opened a retreat facility for missionaries in Bennet, Colorado in 2000. They are currently living in South Africa, about one hour from the Zimbabwe border. Some of their active partnerships in missions are located in Africa, Asia and a USA Indian Reservation called Pine Ridge Reservation in the Bad Lands of South Dakota and more.
FEBRUARY – LFS Refugees Program
LFS Refugees Program offers support to people who are forced to flee their countries of origin because of a well-founded fear of persecution due to race, religion, nationality or membership in a particular social or political group.
MARCH – Clear Creek Rock House
Clear Creek Rock House provides area teens a safe, supervised place where they can recreate and receive life skills training from caring adults. The Rock House does this through mentoring, tutoring and after-school programs and events.
APRIL – Youth Scholarships
Youth Scholarships is our church’s fund to help our local youth attend youth activities. The purpose of this money will be to allow students to offer a “helping hand” to the church or any of its members in exchange for covering an event fee.
MAY – Capstone Ministry
Capstone Ministry is a ministry to the street children of Western Kenya, specifically Kisumu and the surrounding areas. Capstone was founded in 2005 with the objective of restoring street children with their family. The ministry is founded upon the Scripture from Psalm 118:22, “The stone the builder’s rejected has become the capstone.” Capstone Ministries is a recognized service organization of LC-MS.
JUNE – Joy International
Joy International is dedicated to the rescue, restoration, and reintegration of children, teens and young women affected by human trafficking, and the prevention of child trafficking worldwide.
JULY – Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity
Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live.
AUGUST – EChO Emergency Shelter Program
EchO Emergency Shelter Program provides assistance to residents of the Evergreen Mountain communities who are unemployed, under-employed, dealing with a long term illness, or experiencing other forms of person crisis.
SEPTEMBER – Enlighten Foundation – Project Sparkle
Enlighten Foundation is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to the educating and empowering women worldwide through walking with marginalized women and children to provide spiritual and practical tools for daily life. In Armenia they provide early education, both academic and spiritual, to Yezidi Kurdish children. This opens the door for Yezidi families to come to church, and mothers to become involved with health and parenting training as well as small business development.
OCTOBER – Life Options Pregnancy Center
Life Options Pregnancy Center is an Evergreen based free and confidential service for women experiencing and unplanned pregnancy. They offer emotional support, medical referrals, financial assistance and more.
NOVEMBER – World Gospel Outreach
World Gospel Outreach, we have missionaries at LCC who partner with WGO annually, specifically serving in Belize and Honduras, as part of a medical ministry team. WGO’s vision statement is “Impacting the faith of Christ followers through serving and evangelizing children and the poor.
DECEMBER – Mount Evans Hospice
Mount Evans Hospice in Evergreen provides compassionate in-home health care and hospice services to Colorado mountain-area residents. They offer grief support to adults and children, including our award-winning children’s bereavement program, Camp Comfort.
